Professional-Quality Detailing Essentials
If you take pride in your car, the results of a good detailing session are their own reward. There’s nothing like stepping back after buffing out the last layer of wax and admiring the gleaming mirror shine on your paintwork. Getting your car looking its best takes a bit of work, but luckily, we stock a range of detailing supplies to help you along.
If you want your car to look its best, you’ll need to follow three simple steps; a pre-wash, a contact wash, and a wax. You can then take care of finer details if need be. You can find everything you need for your car and caravan cleaning needs on this page!
Snow Foam Pre-Wash
Snow foam is a pre-wash that you use before your regular car shampoo. It’ll lift dirt away from the surface of your can and break most of it down, allowing you to simply rinse it away. This helps reduce streaks and swirls when you go on to shampoo your car. These streaks are actually tiny scratches, which occur when you drag particles of dirt across your paintwork. Naturally, breaking down this dirt with a snow-foam pre-wash means most of these particles are gone before you do your contact wash, so you’ll end up with a perfect mirror shine.
Our snow foam is designed to be thick and super-effective, so it’ll cling to your car for longer. This increases the contact time between the detergents in the foam and the dirt on your car. After a little while, the foam becomes watery and starts to drip off your car. Don’t worry if you notice this happening – this is how it works! As it runs away from your car, it pulls dirt away from your paintwork. It might not get rid of really stubborn caked-on mud – it’s not really designed for that – but it will loosen it enough so that your contact wash is more effective.
Ultima Plus XP Snow Foam is so effective that many people use it as a quick car wash in between detailing sessions. Not everyone has the time to deep clean their car every weekend, especially not if you only need to clean a bit of traffic film and dust off your paintwork. If this is all you need, a quick spray of Snow Foam is a quick and easy way to get the job done!
Contact Wash
After pre-washing your car, it’s time to use your shampoo. This is fairly straightforward, but there are two different kinds to consider. Above, you’ll find Wash and Wax as well as Waterless Wash and Wax.
The first type is Wash and Wax. This variety needs to be mixed with water to work. It creates thick, soapy suds and leaves behind a layer of protective wax, giving you that gleaming finish you’re craving. The second variety is Waterless Wash and Wax which, as you might expect, doesn’t need to be mixed with water. It has a little less cleaning power than regular car shampoo, but it’s much more convenient to use, so both have their advantages. It’s good to have a bottle of both around the house so you can use whichever one you need!
Wax and Fine Details
As both types of car shampoo contain wax, you might not need to add a final layer of wax to protect your car’s paintwork. Both Wash and Wax formulas contain carnauba wax, known as the “Queen of Waxes” for the incredible protection it offers your car. It leaves a water- and dirt-repellent layer on your car, helping prevent watermarks, chips, and other marks on your paintwork. It also makes colours look richer and more vibrant, so your car will look better than ever.
That said, there’s more than just paintwork to consider when cleaning your car. If you truly want your car to look like it’s just rolled out of the factory, you’ll need to take care of the fine details (that’s why they call it detailing, after all!). One of the main issues that can ruin an otherwise spotless car is iron contamination on your wheels. Iron contamination – also called iron fallout – occurs when tiny particles of iron wear away from your brake pads and cling to your wheel trims. They make your wheels look dull and yellowish, and – as they bond to the metal of your alloys or trims – can’t be cleaned off with regular shampoo.
You need a specialist product to get rid of iron contamination, and there’s nothing more suited to the job than our Extreme Iron Fallout Remover. It quickly breaks down those iron particles and allows you to simply rinse them away. Despite this incredible wheel-cleaning performance, it’s pH neutral and can be used on any kind of alloy or wheel trim as well as your exhaust, paintwork, rubber, plastics, and windows if needed.
Caravan Cleaning
If you enjoy your caravan trips, you’ll want to treat your caravan as a home away from home. That means year-round cleaning and maintenance is essential. This isn’t always the most glamorous job, but by browsing above you’re sure to find something that will make it a little easier.
In particular, our best-selling toilet fluids are a must-have for any caravan owner. We stock both blue toilet cleaning fluid and a pink toilet rinse, as well as an organic green fluid that can be used in both your flush tank and waste tank. This is a great space-saver, as it means you don’t need to keep separate bottles lying around in your caravan!
